EDIT: Some have criticised the fact that BonBon chose to leave Lyra without any indication that she tried other means of dealing with the issue. Now, where does it say that she didn't? Where does it say that she did? To be honest, that's not the point. You can decide yourself whether BonBon was a total bitch and abandoned her partner (who clearly needs someone there for her) or whether she did attempt to save their relationship, or whether she left because she was too afraid to tell Lyra that her much-loved fanaticism is making her unhappy... It really doesn't matter, so I didn't even give it a thought. The fact of the matter is, BonBon chose to leave because she can't deal with Lyra anymore, because she's so far gone from the pony she once was. If there's someone to feel sympathetic for, it's Lyra. She didn't realise the impact her obsession had on BonBon and her own life.
TL;DR - It's fine if you feel annoyed at BonBon for what she did, under whatever circumstance, but that doesn't mean it's okay that Lyra was acting as over the top as she was; this being the point.
The one you dearly love is likely to break up and leave you because he/she can't tolerate the things you like...?
Isn't that the common situation for us Bronies? So the message here is either giving up the things you are interested in or to lose the one you love.
That is pretty fucked up and it shouldn't be this way. Maybe Lyra and BonBon weren't ment to be together after all.
come here Lyra, I'll console you
Of course, it also could have been that I literally drove her insane...
Besides I don't think that living in Equestria is much better than living here. I'd miss the internet and eating meat. Who says that they don't have polution? Maybe it wasn't shown yet, or the ponies are yet to reach an indutrial level. I wouldn't call a world where you are constantly attacked by deadly mythological creatures or vines very appealing.
Leaving those environmental things out Equestrian creatures/Tribes seem to be rather racist towards each other, magic wielders will always have an advantage over others, just like here there are most likely political plots going on and I also dislike the idea of one empowered Twilight can litterally obliterate the whole place, or enslave everyone if she wants to, just like Sombra did.
What did bonbon do?
It boils up the nerd within
It'll be interesting to play with a fellow deviant
poor Lyra though ;n;
i'll stay with her ;n; just 29 more moons..
At least, that's what I took from this.
Looking back, I realise it's a rather complicated subject. There's so much I should've addressed, like how BonBon couldn't share Lyra's interest because she simply doesn't like the show, or how Lyra's behaviour had caused tension between them for some time, or the issue of Lyra pinning questionable posters around the house, or how she escapes reality by writing romantic fiction which causes BonBon to feel insecure... I just kinda presented a segment of what is a larger story.
Still, it makes me happy that some people appreciate my attempt. Like you! Thank you!
