Some hobbies aren't designed to be a functional lifestyle.

Hope you liked it.

"My Little Homosapien" copyright of Lauren Fist and Hasbeen.

EDIT: Some have criticised the fact that BonBon chose to leave Lyra without any indication that she tried other means of dealing with the issue. Now, where does it say that she didn't? Where does it say that she did? To be honest, that's not the point. You can decide yourself whether BonBon was a total bitch and abandoned her partner (who clearly needs someone there for her) or whether she did attempt to save their relationship, or whether she left because she was too afraid to tell Lyra that her much-loved fanaticism is making her unhappy... It really doesn't matter, so I didn't even give it a thought. The fact of the matter is, BonBon chose to leave because she can't deal with Lyra anymore, because she's so far gone from the pony she once was. If there's someone to feel sympathetic for, it's Lyra. She didn't realise the impact her obsession had on BonBon and her own life.

TL;DR - It's fine if you feel annoyed at BonBon for what she did, under whatever circumstance, but that doesn't mean it's okay that Lyra was acting as over the top as she was; this being the point.

No part 2. Bonnie left I'm afraid; she doesn't want to be with Lyra right now.

After reading this comic you got a bunch of different feelings. The main one I'm feeling is that this whole "brony" subject has affected you in some way and you showed it through this. Regardless, yes, there is a level of obsession that is bad. From my understanding though, this feels like a stab at people who would think of themselves as a "brony". A way of saying you're wrong/bad/a freak because you like this cartoon.

Now, I didn't make this comic so I don't know what you really meant by it. I'm not jumping around saying my opinion is fact. It just bothers me to believe this may be something you feel.. hell, that any person would feel this way. This idea that people are wrong for liking a cartoon show and express it is a really bad promotion. It's like someone telling another that because they like baseball so much they don't like them anymore. In this case, you can't like what you like because its odd and different. If you do like it then don't expect others to like/respect you anymore. I've seen so much debate over this cartoon. Relationships and friendships broken because they liked a single cartoon that they and the rest of the world believe is only for little girls? It's sick.

Overall, this was not a burn against you. I mean you no harm by this comment. If anything, this was just thinking out loud. It was well done with the humor even on such a serious topic. If I was completely off then feel free to say so. I'm not trying to make you look bad. I really am not. If anything, you could help me understand it better if I'm completely off.

Well thanks for taking the time to think into it. I don't want to tell you that you've misinterpreted it because if that's the message you got out of it then I've either made a mistake in my communication or you've been open minded enough to find your own meaning from it. Still, I'd hate for you to think that I'm expressing the idea that liking a cartoon is bad or anything like this.

It doesn't really derive from any self loathing, due being the fact that I happen to really like the show. I don't compare myself to Lyra in this comic, nor have I experienced what she went through. It actually stemmed from some observations such as relationships I know about that ended over one of the partner's distractions. Then there's the theory that some or many bronies are in this to get that sense of belonging that their possible lack of social skills do not grant them. And I'm thinking, rather than treat the symptom, why not go for the cause? Because I love this show a lot but I don't feel like I need to indulge into the fandom so strongly. I'd only want to do that if there was nothing else happening in my life. If people are doing this indulging for pure enjoyment, then whatever, but... Well anyway this is only vaguely related to the point of the comic, but it was running through my mind at the time.

All that's happening here is that Lyra has lost sight of other things in her life in favour of the Bromosapien fandom. She's too caught up in her own world that she forgets that BonBon is a part of it, too. There wasn't much communication between them both, which could be a fault of either one of them. I mean, Lyra clearly had no idea that BonBon was upset, and the most BonBon could offer was a disappearing act and a letter, which rather poetically informs Lyra that she's no longer the same pony she fell in love with. BonBon didn't leave her because she watches a cartoon, she left her because that cartoon is the center of her world and BonBon no longer feels a part of it. It sounds absurd that something like that could come between a couple, but it does happen and it fascinated me enough to apply it to the fandom's favourite couple. Think about it, there's loads of content where Lyra is doing something human-ish and BonBon just looks on, either disapprovingly or with great concern; once or twice with fear! So it's like, what are they still doing together?

This thing is way too complicated for its own good, and like people asked, it aught to have a second part to at least clear some air and give more insight to their relationship so readers could understand exactly what happened and why. But at the time of making this, I thought it was cool to leave a lot of questions unanswered so the reader could interpret it however they see fit; like a lot of artwork. But if the subject is as topical as this, then I should've known that people would get very wrong ideas; such as assuming that I'm attempting to burn the fandom, or that the fandom is bad... I also learned that people are really attached to these characters, despite how their personalities only exist in people's minds. If I really liked a pair of characters, I want to know that they're okay, y'know? So now that I understand that, I'll treat characters with better care.

Sorry for writing so much. I assume you'll appreciate the explanation though. This comic was a learning curve and I hope I can entertain you and everyone else better in future. :) I'll try and sum up everything I just said, incase you're not sure what to take from it.

tl;dr - BonBon left Lyra because it seems Lyra cares more about the fandom than her girlfriend. I had some points in mind but I left it too vague. I didn't mean to suggest that being passionate about a cartoon sucks. I was concerned with the psychological aspects behind obsessive needs to join a fandom. I figured it'd make sense for BonBon to leave due to all the fanart in which she fails to understand Lyra's obsession. I could've done better.
